Hip Hop Dance Mixed Levels

Hip Hop is an ever-popular street dance that cultivates body control, creativity, and community! In this 11-week workshop, children of all levels will learn rhythm, choreography, precise footwork, upper body strength for breaking, stage presence, and the history of Hip Hop culture. This workshop is based in dance culture and developmental anatomy. It will include styles of house dance, locking, popping, and funk developed in the 1970’s. A balance of precision and respect will be infused with freedom and personal expression, to foster the dancers confidence. Old-school and new Hip Hop and R&B music will be utilized.

2D Animation class

Students will use Adobe Animate (from the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite) to create their own 2D animation. All characters, props and backgrounds for their animation will be created from scratch using the shape and pencil tools in Animate. Students will learn and apply basic animation concepts like key framing and tweening in this course.

Students will use the program Multimedia Fusion to create their own 2D Platform game. Levels will be fully designed from background to characters and then programmed using a series of if/then statements. The final product will be a fully functional game with lives, enemies, and goals. This 10 week class will be taught by Ross School's Media Integration Teacher, Lucas Leonardo.

Academic Chess is designed for everyone from the beginner to the advanced player. With our innovative teaching methods, attendees will learn the basic principles behind the opening game, middle game tactics/objectives, and endgame strategies.
Learning this ancient game, participants will develop patience, foster critical thinking skills, and understand that decisions result in consequences. All participants will receive our exclusive workbooks.
Academic Chess-A non-profit organization that has been teaching chess in schools for nearly 20 years. With our unique style of teaching, our goal is to make learning fun for all students in a safe, nurturing environment. Notable students of Academic Chess have gone on to win National Championships and one became (at the time) the youngest Master in US History. If your child has never attended an etiquette class, this is the one-time workshop not to miss, for your child to gain the basics to self-introductions, handshaking, eye contact, and other tips on attending parties with or without parents. An introduction to basic table manners, from start to finish, including a 3-course tutorial dinner.

Parents request this program again and again so we are continuing to bring back our etiquette expert, Syndi Seid, who is a graduate of The Protocol School of Washington. She has appeared on "Good Morning America", KRON, KPIX, KGO, KTVU and KQED.
Parents are encouraged to enroll with their child (average one parent per child), although kids may enroll without a parent. Check-in is at 3:45pm with the seminar starting promptly at 4pm.

Jean Marc (who has previously played soccer at Dominican College and for the San Francisco Seals and Glens) leads this instructional soccer program that emphasizes basic skills in passing, dribbling, shooting, trapping, and other tactics for both offensive and defensive play.

Ross Recreation staff will run weekday practices and referee the Saturday games. Parents are asked to volunteer to coach the teams during their Saturday games (coaches are not needed for weekday practices). Please call us if you are willing to coach, you are encouraged to sign up for the free coaches clinic.

Please note the following:

Cost of the program is a league price and therefore cannot be pro-rated for missing practices/games.

Each child will receive an official team soccer shirt.

Team placement is not determined by practice date/time. Once teams and schedules are made they will be posted on the Info page of our website.

Kids Club

Kids Club is an on-site after school program offered at Ross School for grades K-5. Following the Ross School calendar, care begins on all regular school days at "dismissal time."

Kindergarteners are met each day at their classroom and walked to our room.
Kids Club works seamlessly with other Ross Rec enrichment classes - we escort your child to and from other classes occurring on the same day!

Each day at Kids Club includes:
Indoor & Outdoor (or Gym!) Play
A Healthy Snack
Art / Craft / Building / Creating / Science
Time for Homework if needed

Ronda Beren has more than 20 years of experience working with children, and loves playing games.

Mallory Beren has been working with Ross Recreation for the past 3 years. She is creative and fun, and the kids love her!
The staff strive to create a fun and warm environment for kids to play, learn, and grow.

Kids Club Drop In Cards

If you do not plan to have your child attend Kids Club regularly, but want to have the option of aftercare available with more flexibility, the Drop In Card option is for you!
The drop in card is good for 10 hours to use when you need it and can even be used in 30 min increments. The time on the cards does not expire, and can be shared among siblings. We will keep your card on file, keep track of time used, and let you know when your card is low.
- Drop In Cards must be purchased in advance of using the Kids Club program.
- 24 Hours notice is required to have your child attend on a Drop In basis
- Kids Club (via email) Kids-Club@outlook.com must be contacted directly, and approved by an instructor.
- Drop In space is limited and not guaranteed, and given on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. We require 24hr notice for drop in cancelations.
- Drop in card purchase does not expire, but is non transferable.

Art with Casey class will focus on a variety of different mediums: from collage to charcoal and from watercolor to colored pencils we will experiment explore and learn shading, painting, perspective, and sketching. We will utilize these skills to create finished pieces of work. We will also have fun doing warm-up games like Simon says draw, collaboration imagination projects, create your own superhero, monsters, animals, abstract works and more. Perfect for all ability levels with an emphasis on learning and having fun, this fall course will be a great addition to your child’s enrichment. Look forward to seeing you there!

Have a great time this holiday break by joining in the fun at Holly Hoppin' Holiday Camp! These days have a great mix of AWESOME activities in small groups as well as cool choice time options. This will be an inspiring environment where children have the opportunity to explore, create, discover and nurture their unique attributes.
