2D Animation class

Students will use Adobe Animate (from the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite) to create their own 2D animation. All characters, props and backgrounds for their animation will be created from scratch using the shape and pencil tools in Animate. Students will learn and apply basic animation concepts like key framing and tweening in this course.

Academic Chess

Academic Chess is designed for everyone from the beginner to the advanced player. With our innovative teaching methods, attendees will learn the basic principles behind the opening game, middle game tactics/objectives, and endgame strategies.
Learning this ancient game, participants will develop patience, foster critical thinking skills, and understand that decisions result in consequences. All participants will receive our exclusive workbooks.
Academic Chess-A non-profit organization that has been teaching chess in schools for nearly 20 years. With our unique style of teaching, our goal is to make learning fun for all students in a safe, nurturing environment. Notable students of Academic Chess have gone on to win National Championships and one became (at the time) the youngest Master in US History. We are currently serving 50+ schools in the City and Marin.

Introduction to Good Manners - Monday

If your child has never attended an etiquette class, this is the one-time workshop not to miss, for your child to gain the basics to self-introductions, handshaking, eye contact, and other tips on attending parties with or without parents. An introduction to basic table manners, from start to finish, including a 3-course tutorial dinner.

Parents request this program again and again so we are continuing to bring back our etiquette expert, Syndi Seid, who is a graduate of The Protocol School of Washington. She has appeared on "Good Morning America", KRON, KPIX, KGO, KTVU and KQED.
Parents are encouraged to enroll with their child (average one parent per child), although kids may enroll without a parent. Check-in is at 3:45pm with the seminar starting promptly at 4pm.

Ballroom Dance/Cotillion (6th & 7th Grade Girls)

Dance Arts Studios of San Rafael is back to teach the fall Ballroom Dance class. They are experienced in teaching children and teenagers throughout the Bay Area.

Children are asked to dress up each week. Boys should wear a jacket, tie and dress shoes; girls should wear dresses and dress shoes. No black rubber soles on shoes.

Parents are asked to chaperone at least once during the session! Please volunteer via the Ross Recreation office.

The first 8 sessions will be from 7-8pm, and the last class on 2/4/18 will be a 2 hour party, from 7-9pm.

**To ensure the same number of boys and girls in each class please select the appropriate registration option. Registrations made in the wrong "class" can only be moved over if space is available--make your selections carefully!**

Green Dot Ball - Junior Team Tennis - Ages 9-12


Instructor: Tennis in Marin-Tom Sadzeck

Green Dot Ball - Junior Team Tennis League is the next transition level from red ball team place. Kids ages 9-12 play full court with slightly modified balls. This transition allows kids to rally with balls that are very similar to the real thing but are still lighter and less bouncy than regulation tennis balls.

Kids have a team practice once a week and play matches on Fridays versus other Marin County teams. Schedule will be determined just prior to the season for exact dates and locations and times of matches.

Call the Ross Rec office for Optional Registration Choices: $250 for practices only, or \$185 for matches only. \$395 for both.

Practice Time/Day: Wednesdays: 4:30-6pm at Ross Town Courts

Matches: Fridays 4-6pm, dates TBD.

Boxing Middle School

Ross Recreation is offering a boxing club for middle school kids. Using boxing skills and drills to increase your muscular and cardio endurance. This course will strengthen your core, and your upper and lower body. One-on-one training is provided if time allows, this is a technique class with NO CONTACT involved.
